Available file formats

To be able to offer master quality High Definition 1080p video clips for download over the Internet requires data compression. After careful evaluation we have chosen to process and master all clips using Cineform's 10-bit compression technology. Cineform codec preserves original image quality while significantly reducing file size.

Cineform 10-bit codec

Your downloaded clip from Four Seasons HD in Cineform file format is an identical copy of the original master clip. This ensures that the delivered end product can be just as high quality as the original master clip. Cineform compression technology is available for both PC and Macintosh computers.

Codec that allows reading Cineform file format and loading clips into program like Adobe After Effects is available from Cineform's website.

Frame rates

Clips downloaded from Four Seasons HD have the following frame rates upon playback

  • 24 progressive frames per second for Cineform codec

Changing the frame rate to 25p or some other frame rate

Clips downloaded from Four Seasons HD can be easily instructed to play in other frame rates aswell. Many editing programs have feature called Interpret Footage, that allows changing how many frames are displayed each second. Using Interpret Footage to change the rate of playback to 25p has no impact on image quality, only duration of the clip will be slightly different.

Please see the manual of your editing program for further instructions on changing the frame rate of a clip upon playback.

Rendering a new clip

In some cases it may be required to render a new clip with desired frame rate for playback and/or use a different compression codec. This can be easily achieved using program like Adobe After Effects. Simply load the clip into Adobe After Effects and create a New Composition with the desired settings for image size and frame rate. Use Interpret Footage to instruct the clip to play at the same frame rate as the composition. Render a new clip using desired compression codec and settings.

Please see the manual of Adobe After Effects for further instructions on creating a new composition, using Interpret Footage command and rendering a new file.
